Dr. Schmale routinely conducts demonstrations of his autonomous UAVs at Virginia Tech's Kentland Farm. These Field Days involve presentations from growers and producers, demonstrations of UAVs collecting microbes from the atmosphere, and interactive simulations to compute potential origins and destinations of aerial biota.

Aerobiology demonstrations for high-school students

Dr. Schmale conducts interactive demonstrations for high-school students at Virginia Tech and the Roanoke Valley Governor's School. These demos have included operation of the microbe-sampling devices on our autonomous UAVs,  microbe identification workshops where students observe microbes collected from the atmosphere, and pilot training on a flight simulator for RC airplanes.
